Computer Tip: Screen Capture
On a Mac:
Want to take a quick picture of your desktop:
COMMAND KEY + SHIFT + 3
Want to take a picture of a specific section of your desktop:
COMMAND KEY + SHIFT + 4
(A cross hair will appear as your mouse pointer, then highlight your selection.)
These are great for making screenshots for websites and the .png files are saved right to your desktop.
For Windows:
Press your PrintScreen/PrtSrn button (normally located at the top right of your keyboard).
It copies an image of your screen onto the “clipboard” ready to paste into any graphics program or even into a Microsoft Office document (you will want to crop the image).

PC Tip: Windows key keyboard Shortcuts
Note: Windows key is typically located to the left of your space bar on your keyboard. It has the Windows logo (flag that looks like 4 squares).
WINKEY | Pressing the Windows key alone will open Start. |
WINKEY + F1 | Opens the Microsoft Windows help and support center. |
WINKEY + F3 | Opens the Advanced find window in Microsoft Outlook. |
WINKEY + D | Brings the desktop to the top of all other windows. |
WINKEY + M | Minimizes all windows. |
WINKEY + SHIFT + M | Undo the minimize done by WINKEY + M & WINKEY + D. |
WINKEY + E | Open Microsoft Explorer. |
WINKEY + Tab | Cycle through open programs through the taskbar. |
WINKEY + F | Display the Windows Search / Find feature. |
WINKEY + CTRL + F | Display the search for computers window. |
WINKEY + F1 | Display the Microsoft Windows help. |
WINKEY + R | Open the run window. |
WINKEY + Pause/Break key | Open the system properties window. |
WINKEY + U | Open Utility Manager. |
WINKEY + L | Lock the computer (Windows XP and above only). |
